There is something truly magical about traveling the world in search of flowers. Every destination has its own unique floral wonders, but few places capture the heart quite like Holland in the spring. In April 2024, I was lucky enough to experience the breathtaking tulip fields of Lisse, and it was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
For two unforgettable days, I immersed myself in a sea of colour, exploring some of the most famous floral destinations in the world.
Day One: Windmills & the Famous Keukenhof Gardens
Our journey began with a classic Dutch experience, a group tour to Zaanse Schans, where the iconic windmills stand tall against the sky. It was like stepping into a postcard, with charming wooden houses, clogs, and cheese-making demonstrations adding to the charm. But as beautiful as it was, I was eagerly awaiting the main event—Keukenhof Gardens.
Often called the Garden of Europe, Keukenhof is a floral wonderland. Imagine seven million tulips in every colour imaginable, artistically arranged into stunning displays. Walking through its winding pathways, I was completely mesmerized. It’s more than just a garden, it’s a living, breathing work of art.
Day Two: A Private Tuk Tuk Tour Through the Tulip Fields
The second day was even more special. We ventured out on a private tuk-tuk tour through the endless tulip fields of Lisse. There’s something incredibly exhilarating about gliding through vibrant rows of flowers, the scent of tulips in the air, with nothing but blue skies overhead.
We made stops at The Tulip Barn and The Tulip Experience, two places that truly celebrate the beauty and history of tulip farming in Holland. Here, we got up close with the flowers, walked through interactive exhibits, and of course, took plenty of photos!
A Deeper Connection to Nature
These kinds of trips always leave me feeling refreshed, inspired, and deeply connected to nature. Flowers are more than just beautiful, they are living reminders of how fleeting and precious beauty can be. Standing in the middle of a tulip field, surrounded by colour as far as the eye can see, I was reminded to slow down, appreciate the moment, and never take the beauty of flowers for granted.
Traveling the world to experience flowers in their natural or cultivated beauty is something I feel deeply passionate about. And this is just the beginning! There are so many more incredible flower-filled destinations to explore, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering through tulip fields or seeing the world through the lens of flowers, let this be your inspiration to make it happen. Because trust me, there’s nothing quite like it.
